Additional Cho Dan Bo (CDB) Classes have been added on Fridays and on Saturdays! Check the "Schedules" Button on the menu bar. CDBs are encouraged to attend ALL CDB Classes possible.

Makes a Major Improvement to
Cho Dan Bo Time Requirements
Effective April 20, 2008
The Asian Sun Master's Council has agreed on disolving the set minimum time requirement from Cho Dan Bo to 1st Dan Black. It has been a ongoing issue that many of our current Cho Dan Bo students were losing focus a few months into their training.
This resulted in students "taking a break" from training or not attending Cho Dan Bo (CDB) Classes regularly due to a few reasons; Mainly the later times that the CDB classes were offered were not conducive to many family's schedules. These problems have been remedied with the following improvements:
Testing From Cho Dan Bo to Black Belt Now Has Two Requirements
1. Student needs to earn their Black Stripe
A student receives a color for each previous belt's form requirement. In example, if the student can perform Gi Cho Il Bo, they would get an Orange Stripe. If the student can perform both Tae Geuk 2 and 3 (blue and blue tip), they would get a Blue Stripe. A Black Stripe is earned when all previous material is at an acceptable performance and comprehention level.
2. Student must get Master Andrachik's
Final Approval
Master Andrachik WILL NOT give final approval if he feels the student cannot successfully complete and pass their Black Belt Test. This is not a guarantee the student will pass, but only one student in the last 5 years that he has recommended has failed. This high passing percentage
is due to the screening that we do beforehand. Black Belt Testing is a very special event. It is a lifetime milestone. If a student is not ready, Master Andrachik will not give approval. If you get final approval, you had better believe that you are ready!
New CDB Classes Have Been Added!
Instead of a time limit, students are be encouraged to attend CDB Classes.
CDB Classes are held in Hudson on Monday and Wednesday from 7:15-8:00 as well as the newly added CDB Classes on Friday from 5:00-6:00pm and Saturday from 11:00am-12 noon.
Friday and Saturday classes are divided into 30 minute segments;
The first 30 minutes reviews all required forms up to Tae Geuk 5.
The last 30 minutes reviews from Tae Geuk 6 all the way up.
Please attend both segments if possible.
Cho Dan Bo Students Should Attend Cho Dan Bo Classes
Although you will get a great workout in our other classes, there is really no substitute for CDB classes. Our regular classes have times alloted for stretching, basics, forms, one steps, breaking and free sparring. Our CDB Classes focus 100% on Black Belt Testing Requirements. If you have a scheduling conflict, please see your school's head instructor.
When Are Black Belt Tests Held?
Black Belt Tests are held quarterly at the Headquarters School in Hudson. Typically, the tests are held in March, June, September, and December. Check www.asiansun.net often.
What Do I Need For My Black Belt Test?
You will need the following:
Black Belt Test Applications are found in your school's lobby three weeks before testing
Please make sure that all Applications, Thesis, and Fees are turned in at the same time.
Cho Dan Bos need to have a Black Stripe on their belts (Signifying Final Approval)
Black Belts testing for 2nd Degree and higher must have all step tests completed (Red Stripe)
and must also have their required Time in Rank and the Proper Attitude expected by the Master's Council for thier next rank. Testing is a PRIVILAGE, not a right.

Make sure that you spell your name clearly so that it will be embroidered correctly
Test forms are usually due at least one week before testing.
You will need to wear a clean, white Asian Sun Uniform to your test.
Try on a sample belt when you turn in your application to ensure that your belt size is correct. Remember, you will wear your embroidered 1st Dan Black Belt for a while!
